Conservatives always lose in the end

Last updated: 13 August 2017

In this writing, I focus on the United States of America which tends to be amongst the last of the developed nations to grant the various liberties and justices to its people.

"… the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." – Martin Luther King Jr. (1929–1968)
Subject Means of victory Date of victory
Slavery 13th amendment 18 December 1865
Conservatives wanted to preserve slavery and liberals wanted to liberate the slaves. Unfortunately the 13th amendmend did not abolish slavery for prisoners, something unique in the developed world. Many prisoners have been worked to death or disablement and minorities have been imprisoned solely for the purpose of supplying slaves or to meet occupancy quotas.
Women's suffrage 19th amendment 18 August 1920
Conservatives wanted to preserve male dominance and liberals wanted to empower women. Unfortunately the right to vote has been rendered unimportant to many citizens due to gerrymandering.
Abortion Supreme Court 22 January 1973
Conservatives wanted to preserve control over women‘s reproductive system and liberals wanted to free women from control. Unfortunately conservatives still manage to significantly limit abortion access through dishonest legislative maneuvers.
Same-sex marriage Supreme Court 26 June 2015
Conservatives wanted to preserve their monopoly on the institution of marriage and the legal protections it provides and liberals wanted to grant the same rights to couples of the same-sex.
